In the early days, before the Alaskan Artifact collection got out of hand, it was a small collection made up of primarily fishing related pieces, lures, net shuttles, net gauges etc. Lures were my favorite and my interest in them quickly spread beyond the Bering Sea and into the South Pacific, I liked the way the Ocean going cultures of the North and South Pacific developed similar fishing technics while never having contact with each other. The is a great example of a South Pacific Trawling Lure adorned with trade beads for the very same reason the Yupik peoples adorned their lures with colored beads, because it worked. As beautiful as this lure is, it and a few of its South Pacific Brethren have finally been pushed off the display shelf by their Alaskan counterparts and rather than relegate this great piece to a drawer I would rather it find a new home. I generally say "please look at our other Alaskan Artifacts" but for a brief time please look at our other South Pacific Lures. .
