Authentic Antique American Whiskey Moonshiners Jug

This is the real deal. This is not a replica or Chinese clone like most of the similar jugs out there.

Still Corked with original cork material from original bottling. Very heavy.

Roughly 2+ gallon size.

No visible markings, although the bottom seems to have initials or Markings imprinted on it.

This jug was recovered from an old estate in a root cellar that was found buried beneath a collapsed 1800s barn that was disassembled and removed from the historic Harpersfield area in North East Ohio for its lumber. Local historians have dated it to that era. The jug was with several other jugs that were destroyed.  This one was intact. Although the original corking material is still sealing the jug, it has no liquid inside although loose material can be heard inside.

This jug is heavy. ~14 lbs.

The Historic Red Eagle Whiskey Distillery is nearby. This particular area of North East Ohio was known for its whiskey production during prohibition, especially this generational family that now runs the newly renovated distillery who reopened its doors in its magasin original building recently. Many of the homes and generational establishments were safe houses and speakeasy hot spots, also know as blind pigs or blind tigers. The estate in Harpersfield from which this jug was recovered was a speakeasy located along the Grand River near the now famous Smolen-Gulf Covered Bridge. The longest covered bridge in North America.

Multiple families in the area trace their lineage to moonshiners and whiskey production as far back as 200 years.

 The pictures posted are how the jug looked at the time of recovery. We did no cleaning or restoration so as to preserve its integrity. Multiple potential buyers have asked us to clean a small portion of the surface to display the actual finish. We have done so. The latest uploaded picture is this view.
