• On his second solo outing, 2008s NEVER NEVER LOVE, British electro-pop artist Pop Levi takes the glam-rock giddiness of T. Rex and filters it through the dance-floor aesthetic of acts such as Daft Punk and Justice, resulting in a set of highly entertaining, beat-driven decadence. "Wannamamma" gets things off to a surging start with feverish guitar lines speeding underneath gloriously skuzzy synths, while "Dita Dimone" revels in an 1980s funk vibe, and "Semi-Babe" cheekily a ponders a lovely lady over a keyboard-folk backdrop. Easily one of the most immediately engaging indie-electro releases of 08, NEVER NEVER LOVE solidifies Levis reputation as a gleefully quirky party-starter.
